In this section we aim to answer some of the common and recurring questions that people interested in the profession ask of editors, editors' societies and of our web site.
We try to address some of the qualities, interests and skills needed by people thinking about an editing career, and to point out some good editing courses that we know about. Please refer to How do I become an editor? and Where can I study editing? for more information.
If you are thinking about becoming an editor, you should also review the IPEd publication Australian standards for editing practice and the Australian government's Style manual, revised by Snooks & Co., published by John Wiley & Sons Australia , Ltd in 2004.
Another excellent reference is The editor's companion, by Janet Mackenzie, published by Cambridge University Press in 2004.
