NEXT MEETING      THURSDAY 17 OCTOBER 2013

In two parts - About IPEd at 6 pm and Editors' Book Club at 7.30 pm SA Writers' Centre, 2nd Floor, 187 Rundle Street, Adelaide Access is via the lift accessible through Café Brunelli

Our next meeting invites members to discuss the future of IPEd from 6 pm to 7 pm, to eat and drink from 7 to 7.30 pm, and to think and talk about books for the rest of the evening. But please note - before the Book Club there will be a special ceremony to confer Honorary Life Membership on a long-serving foundation member of the Society of Editors SA, Celia Jellett.

Please register your attendance for either or both sessions by visiting http://editorssaoctober2013.eventzilla.net/.

6 pm - Information session on the IPEd review and the national vote by members

Board Room, SA Writers' Centre

Susan Rintoul, the SA IPEd Councillor, will facilitate this informal session.

A session will be held from 6 - 7 pm to enable members to discuss and provide feedback on the fundamental changes planned to enable our national organisation, the Institute of Professional Editors, to achieve its aims of representing the profession of editing in Australia.

A discussion paper regarding options on IPEd's future structure, functions and funding (and related papers) are available for download here: IPEd Business case, Membership discussion paper, IPEd Review QA. Please read these carefully before the session. They include a lengthy Q&A paper. This forms the basis for the national vote planned for all individual financial members on 30 November 2013.

The vote is a crucial one for you as professional editors so the society urges you to take part in the discussion.

The society will provide a light meal so that members are able to attend this session before the Book Club at 7.30 pm.

All members are urged to attend, to ensure they are as fully informed as possible before they vote. If you cannot attend but would like to provide feedback, please email Susan with any feedback or queries on susanrintoul@gmail.com.

7.30 pm - Editors' Book Club and Honorary Life Member presentation

Seminar Room, SA Writers' Centre

Members are invited to tell us about books - your favourite book, your current reading, maybe a book that you consider to be well (or badly) edited. Or you may prefer just to listen to others' book reports.

We've invited special Guest Reader Sue Fleming, Coordinator of the Professional Writing program at the Adelaide College of the Arts, to tell us about her book reading habits and preferences.

Important: So that we can cater appropriately, please let us know if you are able to attend one or both sessions by visiting http://editorssaoctober2013.eventzilla.net/.
