Editors South Australia (Editors SA) is the lead organisation for editors and editing in South Australia

Editors South Australia is a professional association that supports practising editors and promotes the highest standards of editing. Editors SA provides regular opportunities for its members to meet one another, develop their editing (and related) skills and keep up to date with new technologies. Professional accreditation is strongly advocated through IPEd (Institute of Professional Editors) as a way of setting an objective benchmark of standards. IPEd’s Editors Directory links editors to potential employers or clients.

UPCOMING EVENTS - OCTOBER 2019

Mentoring and Networking Session (With a Twist)

Date: Wednesday 23 October 2019
Time: 7.00pm for a 7.30pm start
Venue: Intersect, 167 Flinders Street, Adelaide SA
Cost: $15 Members and Affiliates; $25 non-members

About this event:

Join Editors SA for an evening of mingling and learning. This networking event comes with a twist though – our mentors are… you.

This is an opportunity to take advantage of the wealth of knowledge and experience within our membership. Discover more about your areas of interest while helping others who are keen to learn more about what you do.

Work in education but want to get into science editing? Speak to one of our members working in sciences while chatting to another about the joys of academic editing. Accredited editor? Offer some study tips to editors planning to sit the exam next year. Manuscript assessor? Talk to other editors about the unique skills involved in this process. Keen gardener? Nominate yourself as an expert in mindfulness and self care. Super organised? Perhaps you can help with time management and planning. There are a whole range of areas that can inform our day-to-day editing and feed into our
interests and aspirations (and not just those directly related to editing).

We have already signed up mentors for accreditation, author liaison, annual reports, Hansard and travel publishing.

There will be structured exercises as well as free time to network. Don’t forget to bring your business cards. Nibbles and Dutch courage provided.

Any enquiries, please email edsa.events@iped-editors.org
